If you are returning Octopus Card before 90 days after purchase then you will get your balance minus a HK$9 administration fee.

The deposit is refundable but the card need to be returned; or if you don't want refund then you can retain the Octopus card as a souvenir or save it for your next visit.

Balance in Octopus cards are good for three years after the date of last reload.

In cases where the card has been de-activated due to expiration, you can go to any Customer Service Center at any MTR stations to have it reactivated free of charge.
