Hong Kong - Victoria Harbour - Helpful Information for Visitors

Famous for its stunning panoramic views, Victoria harbor (or harbour) is a major attraction in Hong Kong.

Situated between Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula, this Hong Kong harbor bustles day and night with the historic Star Ferries, cruise liners, cargo ships, and wooden fishing vessels.

Lights at night from the skyscrapers on Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula create Hong Kong's beautiful night skyline.

From the Kowloon side, views of Hong Kong Island on side of Victoria Harbor are stunning.

In the same area on the Kowloon side is Avenue of Stars which has the statue of Bruce Lee and handprints of various actors.

Recommendation and Tips for visiting Victoria Harbor in Hong Kong

Tips for visiting Victoria Harbor in Hong Kong:

There are various ways to view the harbor.

On the Kowloon side, you can go to:

The Avenue of Stars which is a pedestrian promenade with the statue of Bruce Lee and Handprints of famous Hong Kong movie stars.

It is near the Star Ferry Terminal and the Hong Kong Museum of Art.

The Hong Kong Cultural Center and dome of the Space Museum can also be found nearby.

From the Avenue of Stars at 8 PM, you can watch the Symphony of Lights show.

The buildings light up, and a light show is synchronized to music.

You can also take a nice stroll along the promenade to view the Hong Kong side which is especially festive during the winter holiday.

Best of all its free.

The  ICC Tower, The 108-story International Commerce Center or ICC with its observation deck, Sky 100 overlooks the harbor.

Sky 100 Hong Kong Observation Deck at the ICC building is right above Kowloon Station of Tung Chung Line and Airport Express Station.

Take Exit C of the station to reach Sky 100 for stunning views of Hong Kong Island.

On the Hong Kong side, you can go to:

Wan Chai Golden Bauhinia Square (Waterfront Square) - Central Promenade back of Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.

Wan Chai Star Ferry Pier is also located near Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition center (less than 5 mins walk).

Another good location is Central Plaza in Wan Chai where City Church is located.

Wan Chai Central Plaza is one of the tallest buildings in Hong Kong at 374 meters (1,227 feet) tall with 78 stories.

The good way to see the view is when the Hong Kong City Church meets for services.

The chapel at the top of the building has great views of both Victoria Peak and the ships in the harbor.

While you are there, Check out Ligh time, a “high-tech”,  lighting system which shows the time by changing colors in regular intervals.

Please go to the Church’s website for service times and more information.

On Hong Kong Island side, Victoria Peak is another option to see a birdseye view of the harbor.

Views of Victoria Harbor on Star ferry ride:

My favorite way to view the harbor is by the Star Ferry.

Lights at night from the skyscrapers on Hong Kong Island and Kowloon side create Hong Kong's memorial skyline.

The evening star ferry tour also offers RT ticket tours for the ICC LIGHT SHOW & SYMPHONY OF LIGHTS HARBOUR CRUISE.

Tour tickets are available at Tsim Tsa Tsui Star Ferry Pier and tour will take 1 HOUR 10 MINUTES.

Every night at 8 PM there is a light show called “A Symphony of Lights”.

It is a show of dancing lights and music coming from buildings and skyscrapers.

You will get a close up look of the light show on the Star Ferry tour.

A refreshment drink is included in the price of your ticket.

From the Harbour, you can see Hong Kong’s skyline with two of the twenty tallest buildings in the world.

You can ride or watch the  Star Ferry and other boats across the harbor

Wonderful and stunning views of the city during the day or night but especially at night.

This Victoria Harbor Hong Kong attraction will take 30 minutes or more depending on your interest.
