Public Bus system

Public Bus in Macau:

In Macau, all public buses (including mini) are run by two companies:

1). TRANSMAC - Transportes Urbanos de Macau, S.A.R.L., and

2). TCM - Sociedade de Transportes Colectivos de Macau, S.A.

Public buses cover all routes and attractions in the Macau Peninsula, Island of Taipa, and Coloane.

All bus signs are in Chinese and Portuguese and are posted on the bus with the route information.

Usually, all bus stops also have route information or map in both Chinese and Portuguese.

Public Buses in Macau has 3 kinds of routes -

1). Loop or Circular Routes,

2). One way Route (Goes in one direction only), and

3). Return Routes (Runs both directions).


Macau Public Bus Fare:

Fare for riding Macau Public Bus MOP6.00/person per trip in cash on all bus routes irrespective of distance or number of stops.

Macau Public buses accept fares in Hong Kong Dollars.

Up to two children, both not taller than one meter (3.2ft), and accompanied by a passenger, can travel free of charge.

All public buses in Macau have Automatic machines to accept payment by cash/coins or fare card called Macau Pass.

Macau Pass is a reloadable electronic IC card for paying a fare on buses like Octopus Card in Hong Kong.

Macau Pass also offers discounted fares for passengers with bus-to-bus interchange concessions.

Macau Pass can also be used for purchases at convenience stores, some bakeries, and vending machines inside Macau.

A public bus in Macau is an inexpensive way to get around Macau.


English versions of the local map and the bus information can be obtained from the counters of the Macau Tourist Bureau on Senado Square (downtown area of the Macau Peninsula).

English language support is very limited or does not exist on Macau public buses.
