Grouse Mountain is one of the North-West Shore Mountains in the North Vancouver area.

Grouse Mountain in Vancouver is higher than 1,200m (4,000 feet) in altitude at its peak.

This Grouse Mountain is the site of alpine skiing in the Vancouver BC area in the winter season.


Grouse Mountain also provides great views of the Greater Vancouver area with four chairlifts service from the top.

In the summer, Grouse Mountain features lumberjack shows, a bird of prey wildlife demonstration, a scenic chairlift ride, and a 2.9 km (1.8 mi.) hiking trail known as the Grouse Grind Vancouver, hang gliding area as well as helicopter sightseeing.


Year-round operations at Grouse Mountain Vancouver include a mountaintop theater and a wildlife refuge.

Public access to the Grouse mountain top is by a Swiss Garaventa aerial tramway also called Grouse Mountain Gondola.

The Grouse Grind Vancouver hiking trail is open for hiking May-October.

Getting to Grouse Mountain from Vancouver

Free Shuttle Bus to Grouse Mountain from Vancouver:

-  Free shuttle Bus is available from Canada Place in downtown Vancouver to Grouse Mountain Base daily.

- Grouse Mountain Shuttle Bus runs every 20 minutes from 8 AM in the morning till 7 PM in the evening.

By Passenger Ferry and Public Bus combination to Grouse Mountain from Vancouver:

- From downtown Vancouver ride the Seabus to Lonsdale Quay

- At Lonsdale Quay take the TransLink Public Bus #236 to Grouse Mountain Base Stop

You can also take TransLink Public Bus #246 and 236 combo from Downtown Vancouver to Grouse Mountain Base Stop.

- Take a Westbound or Northbound TransLink Bus #246 from Downtown Vancouver GRANVILLE ST @ W GEORGIA ST Stop

- Get down at NORTHBOUND CAPILANO RD AT WOODS DR Stop (it will take about 30 mins)

- Transfer to Bus #236 going to Grouse Mountain at NORTHBOUND CAPILANO RD AT WOODS DR Stop

- Get down at Grouse Mountain Base Stop


By Car to Grouse Mountain:

We suggest using either GPS or a local map from your exact location to reach the Grouse Mountain base Parking area.

Recommendation and Tips for visiting Grouse Mountain

- Food and drinks are expensive on Grouse mountain, so pack your own lunch, water bottle, and some snacks.

- Wear Good Shoes as you will be walking outside a lot once you reach a top

- Bring a jacket (a thin jacket in summer) as it still feels cool at the top of Grouse Mountain

- Try to go on weekdays to avoid the weekend crowds. Weekend gets crowded at Grouse Mountain.
